Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project Graphic

DS/USA Exec Dir Kirk Bauer & U.S. Army Sgt.  Orlando Gill rang closing bell at NYSERinging NYSE's Closing Bell

Disabled Sports USA Executive Director and retired U.S. Army Sgt. Kirk M. Bauer and Sgt. Orlando Gill, rang The Closing BellSM at the Feb. 9 session of the New York Stock Exchange. Seven Wounded Warriors injured in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Global War on Terrorism accompanied Bauer. When entering the trading floor, they received a five-minute round of applause from the traders.

Participating in the bell ringing ceremony were from left to right: Capt. Marc Giammatteo; Staff Sgt. Brian Newman; Sgt. Orlando Gill; Catherine R. Kinney, President and Co-Chief Operating Officer, NYSE; Kirk Bauer; Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Jose Ramos; Capt. Leslie Smith; Staff Sgt. John Jones; 1st Lt. Ed Salau.

The event kicked off the 2006 Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project with more than 50 sports rehabilitation events throughout the United States. The project is a partnership between Disabled Sports USA and its chapters, and the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides sports programs for severely wounded service members.
