This scholarship opportunity, made possible by support from The Hartford, The Diana Golden ‘Golden Opportunities Fund’ and Disabled Sports USA, is a great chance for young ski racers to reach the next level! Scholarship recipients will receive personal coaching from the industries leading ski coaches, and have the opportunity to be mentored by members of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team, Wounded Warriors, and other racing athletes, including the Winter Park Alpine Ski Team.
During The Hartford Ski Spectacular 2007 in December, the National Race Festival Youth Scholarship Program provided an all-expense trip for 16 youth who are dedicated to racing along with their coach to learn from the best disabled race coaches and athletes in the country. This week-long race camp offered these kids the opportunity to work alongside mentors and coaches to help guide them to the next level. They learned about advanced skiing techniques, race tactics, ski preparation, video analysis and more! Many of the youth scholarship recipients also participated in the NorAm SL, NorAm GS or level I Nastar course at the end of the week.
Please check back with us periodically as the National Race Festival Youth Scholarship Program will again provide opportunities for young disabled ski racers… More to come!
