Disabled Sports USA was founded in 1967 by disabled Vietnam Veterans and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee. DS/USA has 98 chapters in 38 states, and is one of the largest community based organizations in the country providing sport and recreation opportunities for persons with physical disabilities.
An intern is required to assist the Programs Services Department. This includes the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project, working with service men and women permanently disabled in recent conflict overseas. The intern will work closely with various military hospitals throughout the country. The intern will also assist with general office duties relating to other projects within program services (including mailing, data entry, responding to inquiries, among other tasks). Skills required include using the internet as a research tool and excellent skill level with all Microsoft applications. Database entry and maintenance will be required. Applicants should have excellent task management and communication skills in order to perform outreach for events.
Positions available year round starting January 2009. Some travel required (expenses covered). Stipend and accommodations provided.
