Lakeshore Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 organization that promotes independence for persons with physically disabling conditions and opportunities to pursue active, healthy lifestyles.
Lakeshore Foundation is currently seeking an energetic, creative, resourceful, self starter with exposure or experience in programming for a variety of adapted sports and recreation programs for individuals with physical disabilities or visual impairments.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Plan, implement and run recreational activities, including program promotion, recruitment, staffing, event logistics, and evaluation.
- Provide assistance, instruction, or coaching in various adapted sports and recreational programs such as power soccer, shooting sports, track and field, wheelchair basketball, goalball, sled hockey, water skiing, swimming, fishing, paddling, and rock climbing.
- Support recreation and sports delivery by acting as designated staff representative at various programs including but not limited to day/overnight camps, athletic events, team building activities, school presentations, individual and or group activities and weekend excursions.
- Provide staff assistance for recreation, sports and athletic events as needed.
- Scope of programming may include activities for wheelchair, ambulatory or blind / visually impaired populations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or adapted physical education preferred: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Certified Adapted Physical Educator and other similar certifications are desired and welcomed.
- Self motivated, enthusiastic, and a strong desire to learn highly desired, individual’s comfortable working with kids of all ages a plus.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing recreation and adapted sport programming for persons with physical disabilities and visual impairments as normally acquired through 1-3 years of prior experience in the field.
- Ability to work flexible hours; evening and weekend work required.
- Commitment to working in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communications skills
- CPR, Standard First Aid and AED desired (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
